Remodeled Digs For Rerun
My father, 余艾蕾 and I have finished remodelling Rerun’s (aka zen.org’s) room. First my father came in and put in a Pergo® floor. Second, 余艾蕾 and I repainted and put the molding back in. Then 余艾蕾 reorered the furniture a little.
The entire time Rerun was sitting in the middle of the room, all alone. I funally put my desktop back together. I would put up a picture, but the batteries to my digital camera are dead and some time in all the moving the recharger went missing. Sigh.

Hi Sven, linguistic musing - is 余艾蕾 - Yu Ai Lei in Simplified Chinese?. If I babelfish it like that, it suggests: “Odd (don’t know if that’s in the sense of ‘unusual’ or ‘not even’) Chinese Mugwort Flower bud”. I know next to nothing about Chinese names but a Chinese friend of mine and his three brothes all have names which are derived from plants or parts of plants (leaf/branch etc. ). Just wondering if 余艾蕾 fitted the pattern too? If not enter pun on ‘barking’ up wrong ‘tree’ here -> !

My wife’s family is from Hong Kong, so her family talks in Cantonese. “Yu Ai Lei” is probably the Mandarin pronunciation, but it’s close. As my wife says I can’t say in right in Cantonese I will not try. To be Honoest I call her Daphne when talking, I’m just a Unicode fan (see my English Words with Letters with Hats page for more geekness), and will use nearly any excuse to use non-ASCII characters. My father finds it a little outré.
The first character “ä½™” is her family name, I’ve never been given a meaning. I’ve been told that “艾蕾” does refer to some sort of flower bud. While Daphne’s sister is “余艾詩”, so she is a mugwort poem.
