Junior Hacker?

Though 余艾蕾 has had Zoë on a music keyboard, yesterday she showed her first interest of being a human at a computer keyboard. So I dug through some Debian Jr. stuff and came up with Tux Typing. I think she liked it, the only problem was that the space bar is pause.

If anybody has any suggestions for a computer program that just does stuff on the screen related to random pounding on the keyboard I would like to hear about it. Apart from an occasional spat of Freeciv and the web I never see any graphics on my screen, so I really have no idea what is out there.

  1. I’ve discovered some neat firefox feature by pounding randomly on the keyboard. ;-)

  2. P has adored the tuxracer program since he was really tiny, though it doesn’t offer you the ability to type much. I tried to get him to use the arrow keys to move the penguin around the screen, but he’s still happier just watching me. Particularly when I make it go careening off hills. :)

  3. On my Mac Powerbook we had an OS9 program that would do psychadelic colors on the screen with each key press. My large USB ergonomic keyboard was P’s favorite when he was about 9 months old. Just put the laptop on the livingroom table, the keyboard in front of it, and let him go to town. I’ll try to find the name of it later; I’d be surprised if there’s no Windows version of the same thing. (B says you could try running it under wine to make it work on a linux laptop.)

  4. I put together what we like to call Zoe Type, a glut/GL program that I was seeking for my Junior Hacker, Zoë. I put the source up. –> No Comments » No [...]
